I call on the Government of Kenya and Kenyan security agencies to immediately stop tech-facilitated violence, end unlawful surveillance, halt abductions and intimidation of activists, and urgently reform abusive laws that undermine constitutional rights.

I further call on X to strengthen its human-rights safeguards, prevent coordinated inauthentic behaviour, and ensure its platform is not used to target or endanger young activists.

I also call on Safaricom to submit to an independent investigation into allegations of unlawful customer-data sharing with police and intelligence agencies, and to take all necessary steps to protect the rights and safety of its users.
